Dear Mrs. Vicki Cobb,

I am sending this letter on how the children in the late toddler room are still working on and practicing your wonderful learning of science.

Experiments:
5/8/12
“Dropping the Balls”
The children and teachers dropped the balls. The teachers asked the children “if they remembered what an experiment is?” The children watched and focused as the balls dropped their eyes watching, voices still, bodies quite and ears listening. The teachers asked “what causes the balls, money, adult shoes, and children shoes to drop?” The children answered “gravity!” The late toddler class does this experiment every morning and is having a lot of fun while learning.

The children were interested in what the stethoscope was. I put it on and showed them how it worked. I explained that the earpieces go into their ears and the chest piece goes on their chest and helps them hear the sounds inside of them. The sound we focused on was the heartbeat. When listening to each heartbeat the children were surprised. Their facial expressions were of surprise because they could not understand where the sound was coming from. Soon they discovered that the sound was coming from inside of their chests and grew very excited. They soon began to dance to the beat of their heartbeats. I asked ‘what do you think the sounds helps you do?’ They answered, it helps them dance. They were very excited to know that there are sounds inside of them. The expressions on their face were priceless. The students are learning what their bodies are made up of in order for them to function and that there are sounds inside of them.
